Addition and renovation to an existing facility for Kingsman Academy Public Charter School, a middle and high school program located in DC’s ward 6. The school’s specialty is a project-based academic program that emphasizes a therapeutic approach to personalized learning. The curriculum includes college and career readiness classes, as well as an athlete development program. The modernization project focuses on the new full gymnasium facility, located over the school’s existing West wing, and held up by Y-shaped columns. A new entrance provides access to the addition at the ground level. Other aspects of the project include support spaces, mechanical upgrades, and a full kitchen modernization. The project is pursuing LEED for Schools – Gold certification
